RAND, W.Va (WCHS) — John Smith said he moved to Rand in 1969 and over the years he has had countless issues with raw sewage backing up into his home and yard. Smith said the sewage has been up to three cinderblocks high in parts of his home, causing major problems.
"I'm quite angry with it," Smith said. "And what really makes me angry is that no one in authority will listen or take the time to try to help you with this, up until this current commission regime that's there now."
The West Virginia Division of Highways began work on a new storm water system for the area in the Spring to help with persistent flooding, but residents said sewage coming into their homes and on their property goes beyond the work currently being done.
