TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A migrant was arrested after a federal agent was attacked near San Miguel on May 31.
The Department of Justice said Norberto Rueda-Mancinas was walking near San Miguel when he tried to run from an agent. The DOJ said Rueda-Mancinas threw a backpack at the agent, who suffered a cut to his face after it hit his night vision goggles.
The backpack weighed around 10 pounds, according to the DOJ. Rueda-Mancinas was charged with assault of a federal agent and illegal re-entry.
The DOJ said from May 31 to June 6, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona charged 199 people for immigration-related crimes.
Nearly 75 were for illegal re-entry, and 18 cases were for human smuggling. Homeland Security, ICE, Border Patrol, the DEA, FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, a
