PHOENIX — A mother of three is now in immigration detention and is facing deportation without her children.

Rosa Hernandez-Wilcox came to the U.S. from Honduras two years ago with her three sons seeking asylum. Now, her American husband said he's fighting to keep the family together.

Hernandez-Wilcox and Bryan Wilcox met after she arrived in Arizona. They quickly fell in love and got married in a backyard ceremony with her three children by their side. Wilcox, a wildland firefighter, said their connection was instant, despite a language barrier.

"It was like we've known each other for 10 years," Wilcox said.

On Thursday, Wilcox said Hernandez-Wilcox was supposed to go to an immigration hearing. They thought it would be the last one before Rosa would be allowed to stay permanently.
