ROCKFORD, Ill (WREX) - Team Zip Zoom, from Thurgood Marshall School was one of three finalists in the entire nation to make it to Baltimore for the final competition of the Cal Ripken Sr. STEM Challenge.
The decision was made back in October of 2024 when the sixth grade team of Adalia Moyer, Zoe Fosse, Ophelia McClellan, Lydia Ruffner, and Victoria McCallister shared with coaches Stacy Wallace and Tracy Jaconette they wanted to participate.
Together, they created a 4-step process to solve shoreline pollution. Ziggy, Zip, Zoom, and Zap brought the girl's dreams to life.
The team took a 5-day trip out to Baltimore including an Orioles game, bowling, a tour of the restoration of Baltimore Harbor, an afternoon at Dave and Busters, iFly, a tour though M and T Bank Stadium, and the competitio
