CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry has announced he will run for the Alabama Public Service Commission.
Sheriff Gentry says he is answering “a God-given calling to serve the good people of Alabama in a new way.”
Gentry was born and raised in Cullman County. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps out of high school, and soon after, began his career with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office.
“I’ve prayed on this, talked it over with my family, and I truly believe now’s the time,” Gentry said. “The Lord put it on my heart to serve Alabama in a new way. This isn’t about politics—it’s about doing right by the people.”
