MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — Arizona’s family has obtained new body-worn camera video from the Department of Public Safety showing a trooper letting state Sen. Jake Hoffman go without a ticket despite allegedly driving 24 miles over the speed limit, which would be criminal speeding.

The video from the Jan. 22 traffic stop on the eastbound U.S. 60 near Power Road in Mesa shows the trooper telling Hoffman that he was going 89 mph in a 65 mph zone .

Sen. Hoffman, a Republican from Queen Creek, is cooperative during the traffic stop. He does not tell the trooper he’s a lawmaker or ask for immunity. The trooper figures out Hoffman is a state senator on his own, and once he does, he lets Hoffman go with a warning to slow down.
