During Plymouth’s Pirate Weekend there was so much to see and do across the city, everywhere was busy with revellers and families in costume - it was almost like going back in time.

I happened to stumble upon a historical attraction that’s rarely open to visitors, but for one day (on May 18), people were able to go inside the intriguing tower.

The Mount Batten Tower is a snippet of Plymouth’s history that you’ll probably notice on any day if you’re near the Barbican ’s Mayflower Steps or the National Marine Aquarium.
