GRESHAM, Ore. (KATU) — A new running club, Raza Runners, is quickly gaining traction on social media with a mission rooted in community, culture, and health.
Formed by three friends united by a shared vision, the club is built to be from Latinos, for Latinos -- creating a welcoming space in Gresham where members can connect through movement and shared identity.
"We started this because we felt like there was no Latino club here in Gresham," said Johnny Zacarias, founder of Raza Runners. "We know there might be one in Portland, but making a drive down there, and we wanted one here, and we've had a good response from the community."
For Zacarias, running is more than just physical activity; it’s a form of personal release.
"Running, for me, it's just freedom and a way to express myself.
