OKLAHOMA CITY — After a pair of nailbiters in the finals of the Women’s College World Series, Texas softball decided to dispense of any drama while rolling to the program’s first national championship Friday night.
Texas (56-12) scored early and often in a 10-4 win in the third and final game of the best-of-three series against Texas Tech at Devon Park. The victory not only ended the frustrations that had begun to mount for the Longhorns after being swept by Oklahoma in its two previous WCWS finals appearances in 2022 and 2024, but it also capped the program’s ascent under head coach Mike White, who took over prior to the 2019 season.
