The U.S. Department of Homeland Security confirmed on Friday that arrests were made this week in San Francisco as part of immigration orders.
DHS did not specify how many arrests were made, but an immigrants advocacy group said at least 15 people, including a 3-year-old and other children, were taken into custody Wednesday and were marked for immediate deportation. Those detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents showed up to the agency’s San Francisco field office for a scheduled check-in.
“Those arrested had executable final orders of removal by an immigration judge and had not complied with that order. If you are in the country illegally and a judge has ordered you to be removed, that is precisely what will happen,” a DHS spokesperson said in a statement sent to NBC B
