MINNEAPOLIS — Badger-Greenbush-Middle River's run at the Minnesota state Class A softball tournament came up just a bit short of a state championship.
The Gators, the No. 6 seed in the tournament, lost 2-0 to United South Central on Friday night in the state title game behind 19 strikeouts from junior Mariah Anderson.
After playing the first two round of the tournament in Mankato, the title game was played at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
Anderson held the Gators to just two hits. Both BGMR hits came from Quinn Vacura, who was 2-for-3.
United South Central struck for two runs in the bottom of the third inning, which were the only runs surrendered by BGMR pitcher Kailey Hanson, who gave up just two hits.
