Girls have revealed the ordeal of sitting GCSE and A-Level exams while battling painful periods and the difficulties of accessing toilets and period products.

As well as the overall stress of sitting an exam, others feel their academic progress is hindered by period issues affecting their revision.

Restrictions on going to the toilets during exams and a lack of free period products are also causing girls unnecessary stress during an already pressure-laden time.

Young women who campaign around period awareness and are involved with global menstrual justice charity Irise International told The i Paper their own harrowing experiences with periods during the exam season and why things need to change.
