BILLINGS — The Billings Royals and Billings Scarlets put on pretty good show during a Friday night feature at Dehler Park.

The two Class AA American Legion baseball programs split a pair of games with each other, with the Scarlets (2-4, 1-0) coming out on top 3-2 to take first game and conference opener for both teams. In the nightcap, the Royals (7-1, 0-1) rallied from a six-run deficit to claim a 7-6 victory in a nonconference affair.

While the American Legion season started a bit later for the Scarlets and Royals due to the first year of high school baseball in Billings , both teams feel that with work, dedication and improvement, they can put themselves in position to be playing deep into the postseason.
