The Marion Scarlet Hurricanes are two wins away from a third straight VHSL Class 2 girls tennis state title.

The reigning champs took care of business against traditional state tourney participant Radford in posting a 5-0 quarterfinal victory at home on Friday.

Parker White def. Lydia Pratt, 0-6, 6-3, 10-6; Ava Austin def. Sammi Winegardner, 6-1, 6-0; Maddie Austin def. Whitney McGregor, 6-3, 6-1; Bailey Russell def. Kiera Sartin, 6-2, 6-3; Hope Robinson def. Ellie Edwards, 1-6, 6-2, 10-5.

Floyd County 5, Gate City 3

Elayna Harris (No. 1 singles), Karley Bond (No. 2 singles), Sophie Ramey (No. 4) singles, Vilah Purdue (No. 5 singles) and the No. 1 doubles team of Bond and Madi Slusher posted wins for Floyd County.

Gate City won at No. 3 singles, No. 6 singles and No. 2 double
