A man serving a life sentence for felony murder for a shooting at a truck stop off Interstate 70 on Super Bowl Sunday in 2020 had his appeal denied by the Colorado Court of Appeals on Thursday.

Christopher Rizo, 35 was sentenced to life in prison in September 2021 for the Feb 2, 2020 killing of Thomas Huddleston. He also was convicted of shooting Thomas Huddleston’s brother, Bill.

The Huddleston brothers, both truck drivers, had been watching the Super Bowl at a restaurant near the TA Express Truck stop at 2222 U.S. Highway 6&50 near I-70 exit 26.

Rizo, who prosecutors said had interacted with the Huddlestons, had been kicked out of the restaurant for belligerent behavior toward guests and staff.
