CHICKASAW, Ala. (WKRG) — The Chickasaw High School football team will look to take a big step this season. Head coach Dedrick Sumpter enters his second season with the program. He arrived in July of 2024, so the spring marked the first full offseason.

The Chieftains finished with a 3-7 record but things are looking up for the program. The high school added new facilities and the team is putting it to good use as they improve for the fall.

"We have a mixture of of veterans that are coming back along with some new young talent," Sumpter said. "When you coming in late (last year), there are a lot of things that we had to do differently than what were previously done. But now everybody has acclimated to the way that we want things done.
