The San Diego Wave’s unbeaten streak is no more.
The NWSL franchise suffered its third defeat of the season on Friday night at Snapdragon Stadium when it lost to the Seattle Reign 2-1.
Going into Friday, San Diego was unbeaten in its last six matches, a club record. The loss dropped the Wave’s record to 6-3-2, with 20 points.
Most of the significant action during this outing came relatively late in the second half. The Reign struck first, as midfielder Sally Menti scored her first-ever goal for Seattle during the game’s 67th minute, connecting with a right-footed shot into the net.
Then, during the match’s 75th minute, Wave winger Delphine Cascarino, off a corner kick from María Sánchez, hit a header to tie the game. For a while, it looked as if the match might end in a draw, but near
