SIOUX CITY — Some mornings, Ashley Bond's daughter wakes up and forgets what happened. Then reality sinks in, she remembers her mother died in a car crash more that two years ago and her heart breaks all over again.

"Since the accident, everything feels different. ... I feel sad when I see other kids with their moms because I don't have mine," the girl said in a victim impact statement read by Abby Black before the man who was driving the car in the fatal crash was sentenced to prison.

Found guilty of vehicular homicide and second-offense operating while intoxicated by a Woodbury County jury in April, Curtis Cotton, 37, of Omaha, was sentenced Friday to 25 years in prison.
