DAKOTA CITY, Neb. -- The cause of a fire that heavily damaged a Dakota City boat dealership Friday morning remains under investigation by the Nebraska State Fire Marshal.

Dakota City Fire Chief Clint Rasmussen said a passerby reported the fire at Cimmarina Boats, 1909 Broadway St., at 5 a.m.

"When we got on the scene, the fire was already through the roof," Rasmussen said. "There was extensive damage to the building already."

No one was in the building at the time of the fire, which Rasmussen said may have started in the shop area. He said the Dakota City Fire Department requested mutual aid from South Sioux City and Homer's fire departments to help fight the fire.

Damage to the building's rafters and the weight of the water sprayed on the fire caused the roof to collapse a bit. No fir
