After being awarded the Pacific Coast League Player of the month for May, Ryan Ritter switched out his Albuquerque Isotopes jersey for a Colorado Rockies one. On Friday, June 6, the shortstop was called up to the parent team for the game against the New York Mets.

He was called up when the club placed shortstop Ezequiel Tovar on the 10-day injured list, and Ritter was injected into the starting lineup.
