One of Columbia's true mainstay restaurants is about to have a significant birthday.

Murry's, known for its wide-ranging menu and live jazz, will celebrate its 40th with a party from 1 to 5 p.m. June 22. Certainly not over the hill, an announcement posted to its Facebook page Wednesday promised the festivities would include "good food & good jazz."

Opened in 1985, "we began with a mission to create a restaurant and bar for adults, with little regard for protocol. That vision is furthered today with an eclectic menu, inviting atmosphere, and lots of jazz," the restaurant notes on its website .

Just a few well-loved menu items include appetizers such as blue chips cheese bread; Brock's green pepper rings; and frog legs. Entrees range from sandwiches and burgers to chicken poblano and
