WINTERHAVEN — The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office has arrested six individuals in connection with the torture and murder case of 23-year-old Jacob Sims from Yuma, Arizona, whose burned remains were discovered on November 15, 2024, at 9:25 p.m. on Rodenbaugh Road in Winterhaven.

The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement the Investigations Unit has identified the six individuals in connection with this case.

Gabriel Mills Jr., Daniel Gavino Martinez, Gabriel Mills Sr., and Sadie Hiatt were arrested and charged by the Imperial District Attorney’s Office for murder, aggravated kidnapping to commit another crime, torture, robbery, and conspiracy to commit a crime. Also, Carla Gilmore and Lavonne Hill have been charged with accessory after the fact or knowledge of crime.
