FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WKRG) — There is a lot of understandable excitement around St. Michael football heading into 2025. Head Philip Rivers enters his fifth season with the program. The former NFL star quarterback led the Cardinals to the best season in program history.

The Cardinals doubled their win total, going from six wins to 12 wins last season. Their only two losses were to Class 4A state champion Jackson. St. Michael won the school's first playoff game then made it all the way to the state semifinals before losing to the Aggies. With several key players returning this fall, Rivers knows they have potential for another big year, but he wants the team to focus on the process.
