Leeds United fans will be thankful to learn that Daniel James’ absence from the Wales squad on Friday was not due to injury, having missed the final three games of the season with a hamstring setback.
After missing the important 2-1 win over Preston North End in April, James had made a brief return to action against Oxford United on Good Friday. However, looking far off the pace in his second half substitute outing, the winger felt further discomfort in his leg muscle.
As a result, he sat out the 6-0 thrashing of Stoke City on promotion day, the 4-0 win over Bristol City in the final home game and the dramatic 2-1 title win at Plymouth Argyle. He was present at all three matches to enjoy the celebrations.
