HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Army prosecutors are defending a plea agreement for Dewayne Johnson that will release him from prison in 23 years for the deaths of his wife, Mischa, and their unborn child .

Last August, a month after Mischa disappeared, investigators found Mischa’s blood under floorboards in the Johnsons’ apartment. They also knew from his phone and social media how he covered up the crime, deceived her family and dated new women.

Advocates for victims say prosecutors should have pursued a murder conviction, and defense attorney and former prosecutor Megan Kau said there was a strong circumstantial case, even without a body.

“Those are circumstantial evidence to show that he’s guilty of murder,” she said, pointing out that even a manslaughter conviction for causing a death
