Irreparable harm in Gaza

Richard Coren’s letter of May 31, “Hamas a non-stop threat to Israel,” might seem to be a well-reasoned defense of Israel’s war in Gaza. He states, for example, that articles of the Geneva Convention confirm that “hospitals, schools, and the like become legitimate military targets, when they are used as military bases of operation.”

One might counter that Coren’s conclusions have been eclipsed by several news items that were released in the weeks preceding his letter. On May 17, the reputable Dutch newspaper NRC released the results of their interviews with seven genocide experts from seven different countries, one expert was from Israel.
