INDIANAPOLIS — A family of four was rescued from a condo fire on Indianapolis' west side Friday evening.
The fire was reported around 7:15 p.m. June 6 in the 4100 block of Mission Drive , off North High School Road north of 38th Street.
Multiple 911 callers reported the fire, and responding crews from the Indianapolis, Speedway and Pike Township fire departments found fire and smoke coming from inside a vacant unit on the first floor.
Neighbors told firefighters that squatters "are routinely in and out of the unit," IFD said.
Speedway FD crews brought a family of four to safety from a second-floor balcony.
The fire was brought until control in about 20 minutes, with no injuries reported.
IFD's victim's assistance unit is helping in finding shelter for displaced residents.
