2BALTIMORE, Md. — A Salvadoran national previously convicted of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Wednesday, federal officials said.

ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations Baltimore office announced the arrest of Denis Medrano Garcia, who was apprehended June 5 while allegedly carrying a large knife equipped with brass knuckles. Officials described the weapon as a “dangerous” item and cited public safety concerns.

Garcia had already been issued a final order of removal before Wednesday’s arrest. ICE did not release details about the location or circumstances of the arrest but confirmed that he is currently in immigration custody.
