The tariff wars and resulting local impacts continued to develop on Wednesday when U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order to double steel tariffs.

The move would push the mid-March 25 per cent tariffs to 50 per cent.

Hamilton’s Stelco and ArcelorMittal Dofasco are two of the country’s largest steel producers and provide the city with almost 10,000 direct jobs.

But the impacts are not limited to the steel mills.
