CHICO, Calif. - The City of Chico has delayed the initial cleaning planned for Sycamore Pool in the One Mile Recreation Area of Bidwell Park.

The decision comes as winter and spring storms have created favorable conditions for the protected spring-run Chinook salmon observed in Big Chico Creek by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

The City of Chico is working with CDFW to monitor the salmon migration and update necessary permits for pool cleaning. Regular cleaning will resume as soon as possible.

The Park Fire has impacted Big Chico Creek, depositing sediment, rocks, and debris into Sycamore Pool. Heavy winter rains have significantly altered the pool’s depth, particularly on the west end.
