OROVILLE, Calif. - CAL FIRE Butte Unit is planning a prescribed burn at Camelot Equestrian Park north of Oroville.

CAL FIRE says the initiative, called the Camelot Project, will cover 341 acres of land in the area north of the Camelot Equestrian Park on Durham-Pentz Highway to improve public safety and natural resources.

The prescribed burn is currently scheduled for Saturday, June 7, and is weather permitting.

Officials at CAL FIRE say they will use prescribed fire and other vegetation management techniques to reduce hazardous fuels and increase public safety in the Butte Valley community.

CAL FIRE is working with the Mechoopda Tribal Stewardship Crew on the project.
