FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCBD) - World Oceans Day is on June 8, and the community can celebrate with a beach cleanup on Folly Beach.

"Toby & Friends World Oceans 🌎 Day Sweep brings awareness of how valuable the ocean plays in our community. This Toby event is also registered with the United Nations as one of the Beach Communities throughout the world participating in a global community cleanup," said Vanessa Oltmann, chair of the Folly Beach Association of Business Litter Committee.

Toby and Friends, along with the City of Folly Beach and in partnership with the South Carolina Aquarium, will host the event from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The cleanup will take place on the beach in front of the Tides Folly Beach hotel, the area between the 5E and 5W beach accesses, and the roadsides within the busines
