BROOKLYN, MI -- The infield campground at Michigan International Speedway is often known for the unusual.

Over race weekend, campers deck out their buses, RVs, tents and campsites supporting their favorite drivers.

Deanna Burtch of Port Huron went a different direction with her campsite: pink flamingos.

“I just think they’re beautiful, underestimated birds, and I just love them. My husband started buying me flamingos, and then we brought him here,” Burtch said.

For better or worse, these aren’t the live kind. But they are represented in quantity, ranging from yard ornaments, inflatables, necklaces, signs, shirts, straws, floaties and a costume worn by Burtch herself.
