Coronation Street’s Sue Cleaver has said “that’s a wrap” as she bids farewell to Eileen Grimshaw after 25 years. She said: “I’ll miss this character like crazy” after her final scenes in the soap aired on Friday (June 6) night.

During the episode Eileen had to make the decision whether she was going to Thailand to join her son Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) and invest in his bar.

It followed the death of her sister Julie Carp, which left Eileen questioning her feelings about her relationship with George Shuttleworth, played by Tony Maudsley.

At first she planned to go with George, but after discussing their relationship and coming to the realisation that it was one-sided, she departed for Thailand on her own.

She was given a worthy send-off with drinks in the Rovers Return organised by
