A Wolcott man with a criminal history has been sentenced to three years in federal prison after he was found to be in possession of a loaded ghost gun in 2024.

Jose Colon, 37, was sentenced Friday by U.S. District Judge Vernon D. Oliver in Hartford to 37 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office . On Feb. 20, he pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of ammunition by a felon.

Court records show that, on March 13, 2024, the Waterbury Police Department arrested Colon after he discarded a privately made 9mm handgun loaded with six rounds of ammunition during a foot pursuit.
