The Bees Knees pub in Cirencester has welcomed a new 'queen bee'. Michaela McCarthy has a rich background in the industry as the daughter of a former publican.

Located in the Watermoor area of the town, this Arkell's Brewery pub was previously occupied by The Cheeky Swine , a smokehouse and pit food business. Michaela, 42, who hails from Wolverhampton, grew up surrounded by the world of pubs, with her stepfather serving as the chef at The Fieldhouse pub and The Folly Inn.

Her extensive experience includes stints with Cotswold caterers Sam and Jak, as well as The Five Alls in Filkins, near Burford. Determined to give young talent a chance, Michaela has appointed 28 year old Kira White as the manager of the revamped pub.
