VINCENNES – The Barr-Reeve Vikings and Washington Hatchet golf teams have battled at Country Oaks all season. On Friday, they took that battle to Cypress Hills in the IHSAA sectional with Washington posting a one stroke margin for the third spot over B-R, 319 to 320. The event was won by Gibson Southern with a 298, followed by host Lincoln with a 313 and then Washington. B-R will get to advance freshman Lincoln Miller, who fired a 74 (36-38). GS’s Peyton Blackard was the overall winner with a 66.
WHS was led by Patrick McCarty and Tristan Zollars who shot a pair of 79s, while Aiden Boyd and Bensen Smith both shot 80s. Drew Jones with an 88.
