SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) - A motorcyclist was killed Friday evening when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle.

According to Spartanburg Police Department, at around 9:15 p.m. officers were called to W.O. Ezell Boulevard regarding a wreck.

Police said the motorcyclist had been traveling on W.O. Ezell Boulevard toward downtown Spartanburg when he attempted to switch lanes and lost control of the motorcycle. Witnesses told police the motorcycle went off the side of the road and hit a tree in the median.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

The wreck remains under investigation.
