A 33-year-old Macomb County woman is accused of committing Medicaid fraud by submitting mileage reimbursements for medical-appointment trips she never took, according to state authorities.
Alicia Renee Hackett was arraigned Friday in 54B District Court in East Lansing on 10 counts of Medicaid fraud, a 4-year felony, and one count of Medicaid fraud conspiracy, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, according to the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.
It is alleged Hackett used a mobile phone app to “trick her phone into thinking it was someplace it was not and submitted reimbursement requests for trips that never took place,” officials said in a news release.
