Walker Buehler was honest after the Red Sox dropped the series opener to the New York Yankees. The right-hander lasted just two innings, allowing seven hits and five earned runs in a shaky outing. “I’ve been ***** embarrassing for us,” he said bluntly postgame.
It was a rough stage for Buehler to stumble on, especially given the stakes of the Red Sox vs. Yankees rivalry. “This organization put a lot of faith in me this offseason,” he added, clearly frustrated. “For it to go the way that it did is super disappointing.”
Despite the ugly results, Buehler says he’s physically fine—he just hasn’t won a game since April. “After the past two, three weeks of prep and how I’m feeling… for it to happen that way, just—it *****,” he admitted. Now 4–4 on the year, he’s searching for answers.
