NEW ORLEANS — A crash involving several vehicles on I-10 West near the Highrise Bridge caused major delays Saturday morning.

It happened at about 8:30 a.m. on Interstate 10 West past Chef Menteur Highway.

The crash had closed all lanes of the roadway, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, and traffic had to be diverted at the Louisa Street exit.

The New Orleans Police Department was on the scene directing traffic, and they had opened the right lane for traffic to pass at the crash scene, but congestion remained heavy in the area.

All lanes are now open, and traffic is flowing again over the Highrise Bridge.

No additional details about the incident were immediately available. It is unclear at this time what led to the crash or if anyone was injured.
