The Grand Junction Regional Airport is moving quickly to start its project to cover a portion of its parking with solar panels in order to be able to utilize federal tax credits that would be removed if the large federal funding bill making its way through Congress passes.

Grand Junction Mayor Cody Kennedy reported during Wednesday’s City Council meeting that the Airport Authority board met earlier that week to ensure the airport could still get that federal funding before it is repealed.

“We had a really tight deadline that came about regarding some federal funding that we’re going to be receiving for some covered parking that will be covered with solar,” Kennedy said.
