Venus Quates only had to look at her first name and her experience as a U.S. Air Force veteran to figure out that Huntsville would be a good fit for her company, LaunchTech.

“I’m an Air Force veteran, my name is Venus, so all things space and flight are personal joys of mine,” the New York native told AL.com. “It’s not my first business to have ‘Launch’ in the name. I always thought the Rocket City was the perfect place to continue and grow the company I originally started in New York.”

The business she refers to as “my baby” has had a successful launch since coming to Huntsville in 2021.

“We are at $14 million in revenue,” Quates said of her company, which employs 52 people locally.
