MOCKSVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — Two people are dead and one is injured after a plane crashed in the Piedmont Triad on Tuesday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
At about noon on Tuesday, the FAA confirmed that a Stinson 108 Voyager plane crashed at Sugar Valley Airport in Mocksville, located on Gilbert Road. This is an older model single-engine aircraft.
Three people were reportedly on board. The pilot and a passenger died, and a second passenger was left with minor injuries, according to an FAA report.
The report lists the cause of the crash as unknown circumstances.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
The NTSB said preliminary information said the airplane crashed while doing a go-around.
