Homicide investigation underway at the 1000 block of 2nd Avenue North

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Birmingham Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred Saturday morning, June 7, at the 1000 block of 2nd Avenue North.

Birmingham Police’s North Precinct responded to a call at 6:19 a.m. of an adult male lying unresponsive. When officers arrived, they found the man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived and pronounced the victim dead on the scene.

According to Birmingham Police, the preliminary investigation suggests the victim and another person got into an argument at the Church of Reconciler which is not far from where they found the victim.

They believe the argument continued on to the 1000 block of 2nd Avenue North where the victim was fatally wounded.
