A Ridge man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a Moriches woman who was found dead in a car Friday morning, Suffolk police said.

Homicide Squad detectives on Saturday morning arrested James Quininchetta, 40, at the Suffolk County police Seventh Precinct. He is accused of shooting Rebecca Roth, 33, in the parking lot of the Tall Oaks Apartments in Moriches, Suffolk police said in a news release.

Quininchetta was charged with second-degree murder. He is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.

Police said a woman called 911 at 8:20 a.m. Friday after she found her daughter dead in a Hyundai Elantra outside the apartments, where they lived. Roth was declared dead at the scene.
