A woman is asking for community support for her grandchildren after police say her s on was killed by a teenager later suspected of shooting a Monroe officer.
“We are heartbroken to share the devastating news of my son, Alvin James Parson Jr.,” Theresa McNeil wrote on the Go Fund Me she started for her grandchildren, ages 4, 3 and 2.
“Only 23 years old, he was tragically taken from us on Saturday, May 31, due to an act of senseless gun violence in Indian Trail,” McNeil wrote.
She described her son as “a loving father, a cherished friend and a vibrant young man who brought joy to everyone around him.”
Police haven’t said if they know what prompted the killing.
