A former Maryland State Police trooper was sentenced to six years in federal prison for drug and bribery crimes.
Justin Riggs, 35, plead guilty in February to selling information to a drug trafficking organization. He was part of an investigation that was looking into drug and gun trafficking in Western Maryland.
Riggs was accused of creating a fake Facebook account to contact a drug target and offered to sell information about the informant.
The investigation found that Riggs initiated several electronic conversations with the drug distributor between 2022 and 2023.
Riggs resigned in 2023 following his arrest.
