The life and work of the late Montgomery County Commission Chairman Elton Dean is being honored at Montgomery Whitewater, which he was instrumental in developing before his death.

Yesterday, his family and local and state leaders gathered to unveil a plaque at Montgomery Whitewater in his memory.

Opening remarks were given by Montgomery County Commissioner Carmen Moore-Ziegler, who spoke about his dedication and leadership in getting the whitewater recreation project off the ground.

Dean’s son, Brandon Dean, spoke through tears as he reflected on his father’s long career as a public servant.
