SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Since 2017, Midwest Honor Flight has taken veterans to see monuments and memorials in Washington, D.C. The organization’s 26th mission returned Tuesday.

The most anticipated stop on the tour for many veterans was the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at the National Mall.

Jim Rolfes, Le Mars, Vietnam Army Veteran, said, “I got someone on the wall.”

Visiting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. can evoke a range of emotions for anyone who visits, but especially those who know a veteran whose name is on the wall.

“Corbin Tyndall. He was, he was my tent partner,” Rolfes added.

He left his friend one last beer, something he brought with him from Siouxland.

Emotions felt at the wall from Mission 26 include grief, sorrow, or even a sense of loss.
